Position Summary

 

The main function for security is to make sure the building is secure where all of our guests, vendors, and employee’s, have a safe environment to enjoy their vacation and have a safe place to work. He/she is also responsible for employee scheduling, upholding company policies, payroll, disciplinary actions regarding our employee’s, emergency procedures and covering shifts when necessary.

 

Essential Functions

Security is responsible for doing patrols of every floor including the parking lots, basement, poolside, bar, and rooftop. The responsibilities include making sure all guest rooms are properly secured as well as common areas which include all offices, restaurants, the continental breakfast, penthouse, roof top, hospitality room, and conference room. Security is also responsible for creating incident reports which is distributed to all Managers of the hotel, enforcing parking polices,  assisting in the valeting of guest vehicles, delivery of guest luggage when necessary, delivery of guest requests, assist the Front Desk with the answering of phones and guest questions.

 

Non-Essential Functions

Being bi-lingual is a non-essential function, however a plus.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Prior experience in security.Must understand the concept of exceptional guest service, possess good communication skills, be detail oriented, and willing to learn.  Proficient computer skills, 10-key by touch, able to use a printer, credit card imprinter, copy machine, PBX system, and work a fax machine.

 

Chain of Command

Security personnel willl report directly to their immediate supervisor/department head.  If the information is sensitive, a manager shall be notified.  Life is full of differences.  If at any point an employee has related a concern, for example, to his/her supervisor and is not satisfied with their response, he/she should progress through the chain of command and speak to their manager next, then Hotel Manager, and so on.  This “open-door” policy is extended to all employees regardless if department and each employee should feel comfortable with this process.  Effective communication is the key to maintaining perfection in the work place.

 

Working conditions

The work environment is fast paced and dynamic.  Employees are afforded proper training, technological tools, and leadership which promote success both as an individual and as a departmental team.

 

Minimum Qualifications

Must have a high school diploma, some customer experience, able to stand throughout an 8 hour shift, able to read, write, understand and speak English. Must be able to lift 20-50lbs, type 30wpm, be in good physical and mental health and have a positive “can do” attitude.

 

Success Factor

People that have a positive attitude, are versatile thus multi-dimensional, willing to exceed expectations, follow instructions well, are willing to learn, and can effectively work unsupervised are generally successful in this field of employment.
